Word Count: 555 Gvihita enjoyed acrobatics, occasionally anyway, and it seemed this was one of those days. While soaring about, flying this way and that over his head, she attacked him with questions, duties, things he should do but had not yet done. 'It is the new year soon, why have you not cleaned out your den? Why have you not made new carpets during the winter as you should? Why have you not.. ' And like this she continued, until a sharp, very high-pitched sound made her turn violently mid-swoop, and bolt for 20 meters in the direction it came from, alerted. Dawali understood her reaction as he had heard the sound very clearly - almost too clearly, as it bit his ears - and her hearing was far keener than his own. It must have hurt, and a little flame of sympathy for his strange friend was kindled in his chest. This flame quickly died when she fluttered back to him and made a flurry of feathers and flapping wings around his head, so he could not see what he was doing. She was excited, very well, but she could at least calm down! Do something useful, or at least speak! Why don't you fly over to see what it is, for real, instead of being a nuisance?, he asked the bird, who without a word then darted again in the direction the sound had come from. Dawali was uneasy about this as well - it could be a signal, but he could read nothing in it, in comparison to a howl. It could be anything, although it certainly was no animal sound. Getting up, and leaving the carpet he had been patching on the steps of his den, he went to the horses' stable (a puny little thing he had risen himself, of lack of anyone else doing anything about the matter. He should rally the rest of the adults to get them proper shelter soon enough), and dressed one of the stout friends with the primitive riding-gear that the tribe usually used. The horse made a few approving sounds to his actions, and he then grabbed a bow and arrow from the stand just a few meters away, getting ready in case Gvihita did find out something he should handle. Ever since the attack, earlier last year, he could not find it in himself to trust anything except that which proved to him that it was safe, and strange, non-animal sounds were no exception. Just as he led the horse from the shelter-building, the bird returned, speaking many a word, where the important parts involved Catherine, and a flock of deer. Surely Catherine was not in danger? Had she somehow gotten into trouble trying to take on any of them herself? She was an easy match for a male deer on her own - any wolf would be, unless equipped with proper weapons and a great deal of courage. Swiftly, he threw one leg over the horse's back and uttered sounds from his throat to tell the animal to start forward. 'It's not that far, really. But be quiet, there are a lot of them'. Gvihita would show him where they all were, and Catherine would probably be able to solve the mystery. The adrenaline that rushed through his veins should not go unused, nonetheless. Word Count: 538 A peculiar sound that Caliber never heard before echoed through the lands of AniWaya, ears immediately perking up and catching the strange sound. It was none like she heard before, nothing remotely like a howl, bark, yip, or anything to vocally be emitted from the throat of a wolf or Luperci. At first, she wanted to say it was some call of a bird, but living in the wild and adapting to many sounds over the years, that sound had to be some sort of bird that was a new species. Caliber wasn't up to anything remotely important at this time. For the past couple of days she had been embarking on her own travels throughout the new lands to sniff things out and see what it was like. She had to admit that these lands were a little quiet, tranquil, but Caliber knew by feeling that there was definitely much activity going on in the Tribe lands, whether one seen them physically or not. The spirits were at work, like they have always been, masterminding their invisible magic upon the inhabitants of these lands. As to where the real inhabitants were in the living flesh, well, Caliber had not ran into one just yet after her acceptance into AniWaya. Curious to know what those of these lands were up to in their daily lives here, Caliber hoped to at least run into Catherine again, or perhaps the ebony female whom granted her acceptance here. Feeling the curiosity of her natural wolf nature tug at the end of her tail, the three year old bounded off in the direction of where the sound was heard. It took some time to where her nose caught the distinct whiff of one whom she met in these lands. Catherine... she's close... This puzzled her in the back of her mind, thinking how odd of a sound would be emitting from Catherine. Regardless, she came down wind of both Catherine, Dawali, and the herd of deer that resided by, a scent faintly masked in the breeze. Although the whistling sound wouldn't do justice as to who made that sound exactly, there was something by the snuff of deer in the air that told her of a congregation of prey. It was easy for wolves, and basically any creatures, to realize the situation of a hunt. Coming in swift and silent like the liquid shadows of the night themselves, Caliber took refuge by Catherine not too far away. Although it seemed that Catherine and Dawali were presently in their Optime forms, Caliber remained in her standard Lupus form, how she always liked to be at this point in time. However, if needs be to where they needed her to shift in order to make use of tools for this hunt (if they decided to use any), Caliber would certainly be ready to shift. Although she had left a makeshift elk hide nap sack back in an unmarked spot, her were hands were clever in manipulating any tools that came to the touch. For now, she remained and acted just like how a shadow would, lingering in the backdrop and watching with interested eyes and ears to catch any sudden motion or command given. |
