    Pack/Clan Formation
    Packs and clans can be formed at (almost) any time by any person provided the following requirements are met.
    1. For any pack or clan to form, there must be at least five members enlisted from the start. This includes one leader, one subleader (or alternatively, two leaders), and three adult members. Puppies do not count towards this five member base count. Officially, all characters, whether wolf or coyote or hybrid, are adults at seven months.
    2. There must be at least three In Character threads that form the pack. This can include consulting prospective members, choosing a location, choosing a leader and subleader, announcing the rankings, etc. The five minimum members must participate in at least one of these threads.
    3. All territory claims are to be made In Character and territories can be fought over/disputed. If a clan or pack is disbanded, the territory it occupied is free to be claimed by another clan or pack.
      • The area allowed for a new pack/clan is approximately 300 square miles (768 square kilometers). This may not cover the entirety of a territory, in which case, the rest of the territory would remain neutral land and claimable by other packs/clans.
      • For every additional five members in a pack/clan, they are allowed to claim another 100 square miles of territory (but not required to). For example, a pack with 10 members has a maximum territory size of 400 square miles.
      • The territory of Halifax cannot be claimed as it does not contain enough prey to sustain a pack.
    4. Once the above requirements are fulfilled, please fill out the following form and post it in Roleplay Related and tag it with "pack formation." An administrator will create a pack forum and give the leader moderation powers over that forum. The leader should then create and sticky a general pack announcement topic containing the current ranks and other relevant information such as details on their joining process, co-ranks, and so on.
      • Pack Name:
      • Pack Colors: (maximum of two colors, include hex codes)
      • Icon*:
      • Territory Claim: (please circle the area on the map and upload it)
      • Territory Description:
      • Leader(s):
      • Subleader(s):
      • Members:
      • Links to Threads:
      * To maintain a consistency, all pack icons will be created by the SA unless a submitted icon is deemed "consistent" with other existing icon. Please submit a description of what you would like your icon to look like if you don't want to try creating it yourself.

    Character to Pack Ratio
    There is a 15:1 character to pack ratio. That is, for every fifteen characters, there can be one pack. Multiply 15 by another number (this number represents the potential number of packs) to determine the number of characters required to support the given number of packs. For example:
    15:1 -- 15 characters to every pack
    --- (15 characters) * (5 packs) = 75 characters
    Likewise, 6 packs would require 90 characters, 7 packs would require 105 characters and 8 packs would require 120 characters. Note that this does not require every pack to have a certain number of characters, only that the overall total would be able to support 15 characters per pack.

    Individualization
    1. A pack or clan can choose to limit their membership based on species, gender, or personal creed. A clan or pack is not required to accept any and all members, they may be as selective or as welcoming as they wish.
    2. Packs and clans create their own rank and co-rank system based on any theme they wish. Please note, however, that there is a maximum cap of four (4) for the total number of possible leaders and subleaders. Also, the number of characters holding leader and subleader positions should not exceed the number of non-leader characters.
    3. Packs are free to change/update their internal organization and ranking system at any time. Packs are also free to move to a different area (change their territory claim) at any time. Changing the pack colors and icon, however, are discouraged and must be approved. The SA will review color/icon changes on a case-by-case basis with preference given to extreme IC circumstances such as an ICly unexpected change in leadership. Packs cannot change their name without disbanding and reforming as a new pack.
    4. Leaders can request an FTP login and webspace for a pack website to customize however they wish.
    5. A pack cannot use a colour name or hex code that has been used in the past. For example, Dark violet (#9400D3) may be used by a pack, but this does not mean other packs cannot use shades of purple. The hex code for Dark violet is specifically out of use, but other shades of purple (eg: Electric purple, #BF00FF) is still open for use. See this list of colours for some ideas.
    6. You may change one of your colours one time if it does not alter the status of the pack icon.

    Maintaining a Pack/Clan
    1. Please do not OOCly harass new members to join your pack or clan. Politely suggesting is fine, but don't continually pester or try to guilt them into joining your pack.
    2. Leaders are expected to update their ranks at least once a month, though they are welcome to update more frequently than that if they wish. Ranks can be based on activity, In Character circumstance, or a combination of.
    3. Leaders are also expected to follow all of the activity requirements of normal members. Thus, if a leader is absent for more than three weeks and removed, leadership of the pack is decided by the remaining members.
    4. No player can be a leader or subleader of more than one pack simultaneously.
    5. If at any time a pack or clan's membership drops below the required five members, they will have one week to recruit before automatically disbanding. The members of that clan or pack are welcome at any point to re-form if they go through the steps stated above.
    6. If a pack has expanded its territory based on membership size and membership drops, its territory size does not need to reduce accordingly as long as the pack remains in the same area. If, however, the pack decides to change its territory location, the area of its new claim would be based on its membership at the time of new claim.
